Commemorative Days

Social Studies focuses in part on commemorative days observed in our classrooms. Technology standards will identify search strategies for locating information pertaining to these commemorative days. Students will use digital tools to find, organize, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the information.
 
According to the Michigan School Code, the commemorative days observed are:

Federal Constitution Date of Adoption - September 17

Columbus Day - October, Second Monday

Veteran's Day - November 11

Martin Luther King Jr. Day - January, Third Monday

Lincoln's Birthday - February 12

Washington's Birthday - February, Third Monday
