Media can mean any kind of computer file. The most interesting media use sounds and pictures. The pictures can be still or moving. Sounds can be voices, nature, music or pretty much anything you can hear. When you combine more than one kind of media, it is called "multimedia".

Your Go!Animate login is based on the computer number you were assigned. You will be sharing the login with 3 or 4 other students from Voyager, so, when you save your     project, make sure you have:
                                                                                                                                      1. The Words "Tall Tale" first on the title
                                                                                                                                      2. Your first and last name in the title
Example: Tall Tale by Ben Written

The overall goal of this project is to let the Go!Animate characters tell your tall tale story. Some students will choose to simply retype their story into various scenes using a hard copy.

                                                                                                                                  Copy / Paste

                                                                                                                                  Picture
Other students might choose to highlight text from their Microsoft Word copy and paste it into their Go!Animate project. Just remember that Go!Animate has a limit of 180 characters per scene, so use the Word Count feature when you copy from Microsoft word to make sure the copied characters are 180 or less.

Click on the picture above and notice the character count in this sample is actually over 180 characters. In this example, the student should highlight 1 sentence less and recheck his character count before he does the copy and paste. Notice also that the Word Count box pops up when you click on the part that I have circled in red. (Of course this will not actually be circled in red in your Word document).

                                                                                                                                  Match Backgrounds to Story

                                                                                                                                  Picture
Once you have inserted all the text from your tale tale into your animation, match your backgrounds to your story as best you can.

                                                                                                                                  1. Go back through each scene and read your text for that scene
                                                                                                                                  2. Replace the background for that scene with anything that is a better match for the words in that scence.

                                                                                                                                  Match Character Actions to Story

                                                                                                                                  Picture
What would you like your characters to do while they are telling your story? What kind of facial expressions or emotions would match your story for that scene?

                                                                                                                                  Match Music to Story

                                                                                                                                  Picture
Just like the underscore music in a movie, you can add music to match the scenes in your tall tale.
                                                                                                                                  1. Pick the scene you want to match music to.
                                                                                                                                  2. Press the orange play button to listen to the music before you click on it and add it to your scene.
                                                                                                                                  3. Make sure you "tone down" the music to 25% so you can still hear the characters tell your story.
                                                                                                                                  4. You can also set the duration of the music to as many scenes as you like (or until that particular music runs out of time).

If you have more than 1 kind of music throughout spread out through your story, great! As your story's mood changes, feel free to match the music to the mood of the scenes; just make sure that you don't bunch up different kinds of music in 1 scene. You can always remove a sound if you change your mind or accidentally add too much music to a scene.

                                                                                                                                  Match FX Features to Story

                                                                                                                                  Picture

                                                                                                                                  1. Find at least 1 scene and zoom in on your characters.
                                                                                                                                  2. Find at least 1 scene and either:

                                                                                                                                      B. Pan from something else to the characters
                                                                                                                                  3. Do a fade in and/or a fade out somewhere.
                                                                                                                                  4. Add any other FX features that match or enhance your story

You can easily delete any features from a scene, just be careful that what you are deleting is FX. Be careful not to delete the mega phone that contains what your character is saying.
